Community Involvement
A goal of The Foley Freeze is to make grade school students aware of FIRST, no matter where they attend high school. We attend around five to seven grade school demonstrations a year. Our goal is to make students in grades K-8 understand that science, math & engineering can be fun. Our team takes a robot from a previous FIRST season for demonstrations and participation.
The Foley Freeze team was asked to participate in a robotics demonstration for the National Center of Manufacturing Sciences at the MGM Grand in downtown Detroit, MI. The following link is to the NCMS website for the symposium.

Helping A Rookie Team Get Started
Last year we "adopted" FRC 3119, a small Detroit team from Crockett High School. We received word of the team in need of help. They had one engineering mentor and one business mentor, but they had desire. Their students were so enthusiastic for a small group. We were excited to offer up whatever expertise we could give. We helped with design, tools, game understanding and programming. Team 3119 went on to be the fourth robot in the winning alliance at a Michigan District! Awesome!
Helping FLL Teams Get Ready for Districts!
For the past 3 years, The Foley Freeze students and mentors participated in a "practice competition" for the teams from Holy Family Regional School and Marist Academy. The event was held at Holy Family. Our students helped guide the teams in their presentations and research projects. We also helped judge the table competitons held between the schools teams. In the end, we hoped to get the individual teams a bit more prepared for the coming districts.
