The 2010 Breakaway - Playing Field

The 2010 game is called Breakaway. In each match, two 3-robot alliances, one red and one blue compete on the
27' x 54' field. The field is divided into 3 zones by two 12"angled bumps. Each bump has a platform in the center. Under each platform is tunnel by which a robot or ball may travel thru. In order for a robot to move from one zone to another it must be designed to climb the bump or designed to fit inside the tunnel.
Points are scored by getting a soccer ball into your goal. The ball can be kicked, pushed or herded into the goal. The object of the game is to attain a higher score than your opponent. Scoring is done with the soccer balls in autonomous and driver operated modes and, during the whole match a robot may also attempt to climb the towers/platform or hang from a robot on the tower/platform. A good strategy is to play to your robots strength and stay in the zone they are good at. Some rules are, you can not carry the ball (off the ground) or have it go more than 3 inches into the frame of the robot.
